How to cancel your OVHcloud services

Find out how to discontinue your OVHcloud subscriptions

Objective

You want to cancel one or more OVHcloud services. This guide will show you how to cancel your subscription via the OVHcloud Control Panel.

First of all, read the section "What happens when an OVHcloud service is cancelled?". Then select the concerned product in the section "How do I cancel my subscription?".

Getting your opinion is essential for us. This means we can develop our services to suit your needs and expectations.

What happens when an OVHcloud service is cancelled?

When an OVHcloud service is cancelled, it will be interrupted permanently when the current subscription ends (with an exception, however, for domain names). You can cancel your service or stop a cancellation request up to 24 hours before the subscription end date.

If this is an email solution, a server or Web Hosting plan, all of the data concerned will be deleted without any possibility of recovery.

If it is a domain name or a telephone number, it will be recirculated and therefore might be ordered by other customers.

This means that, before any termination, you must be certain that:

  • The operation will only affect a service you no longer want to use.
  • You have a functional solution to replace it, if necessary.
  • You have backed up all of the data concerned, if required.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Termination can only be applied if the following conditions are met:

  • You are the "administrative contact" for the service (for more information, see this guide).
  • The service is not manually renewed.
  • The service is not suspended, particularly because an invoice has not been paid.

Click on the type of product to be cancelled in the following list of main OVHcloud solutions:

Bare Metal Cloud

Dedicated server

To cancel your dedicated server, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then on Products and services.

Next, click on the ... button to the right of the service you want to cancel, then on Cancel.

Specify the reasons for your cancellation request, then click on Confirm.

VPS

To cancel your VPS, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then on Products and services.

Next, click on the ... button to the right of the service you want to cancel, then on Cancel.

Specify the reasons for your cancellation request, then click on Confirm.

Managed Bare Metal

To cancel your Managed Bare Metal solution, follow the instructions in this guide.

Licences

To cancel a licence purchased from OVHcloud, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then on Products and services.

Next, click on the ... button to the right of the licence you want to end, then on Cancel.

Specify the reasons for your cancellation request, then click on Confirm.

Hosted Private Cloud

Hosted Private Cloud powered by VMware

To cancel your Hosted Private Cloud powered by VMware, follow the instructions in this guide.

Veeam Cloud Connect

To cancel your Veeam Cloud Connect service, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then on Products and services.

Next, click on the ... button to the right of the service you want to cancel, then on Cancel.

Specify the reasons for your cancellation request, then click on Confirm.

Public Cloud

Each Public Cloud service can be deleted by clicking on the ... button to the right of the service concerned, then on Delete, as in the example below for an instance:

OVHcloud Public Cloud is based on the principle of Pay-as-you-go (more details are available on our information page about the Public Cloud billing method). At the end of the month, you only pay for the effective resource usage time.

You can also view your current resource usage in the OVHcloud Control Panel and receive email alerts when your resource usage is projected to exceed a certain threshold.

Web Cloud

Domain name

Following your cancellation and at the end of your current subscription, your generic domain name (.com, .org, .net, etc.) remains "reserved" to you during the grace period (5 days) and then during the period of "redemption" (35 to 40 additional days), which means that only you will be able to renew it during these periods.

To cancel your domain name, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then on Products and services.

Next, click on the ... button to the right of the service you want to cancel, then on Cancel.

Specify the reasons for your cancellation request, then click on Confirm.

Web Hosting

To cancel your Web Hosting, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then on Products and services.

Next, click on the ... button to the right of the service you want to cancel, then on Cancel.

Specify the reasons for your cancellation request, then click on Confirm.

Certificate SSL Sectigo

You cannot cancel Sectigo SSL services before their expiry date, as they are not renewed automatically. You just need to stop renewing them at the next renewal date.

Email MX Plan

An MX Plan solution is not subject to a periodic subscription. You cannot cancel your order, but you can delete your service if you wish.

To delete your MX Plan solution, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then on Products and services.

Next, click on the ... button to the right of the service you want to cancel, then on Delete MX Plan immediately.

Specify the reasons for your deletion request, then click on Confirm.

You will then get an email containing the procedure to close your MX Plan, so you can confirm that you want it deleted immediately.

Deleting a MX Plan will permanently erase all corresponding data. The process of deleting a MX Plan does not entitle you to a refund.

How do I cancel my subscription cancellation?

You can cancel a cancellation request up to 24 hours before the subscription end date.

To stop a cancellation request, log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel, click on your name in the top right-hand corner, then click on Products and services.

Next, click on the ... button to the right of the service that is the subject of your cancellation request, then click on Stop cancellation of service.
