Migrating Email Accounts using OVH Mail Migrator

Discover how to use OVH Mail Migrator

The OMM (OVH Mail Migrator) tool lets you migrate the contents of your Exchange accounts (emails, contacts, calendars, tasks, etc.) without having to export to an Outlook Data File (.pst), which can be a long and difficult process.

First, go to: OVH Mail Migrator.

Start a new migration

Click on New Migration to go to the following step.

Source Account

Choose your current source account and enter your server settings.

If your source account is hosted by OVH, you can choose: Hosted by OVH (Autodetect). You must enter the email address in question then click on Detect Settings.

You will then be asked to enter a password.

For example, to migrate from an MX Plan to Email Pro: Server type: Hosted by OVH Login: Your MX Plan email address Click on Detect Settings Password: Your email account password

Destination Account

Choose your new account type and enter your email address and password. The server settings are filled in automatically.

For example, to migrate from an MX Plan to Email Pro: Server type: Hosted by OVH Login: Your Email Pro address Click on Detect Settings Password: Your Email Pro password

Options

You need to select the different elements that you want to migrate:

Emails: Emails, folder hierarchy is kept.

Calendars: Calendars linked to the account, events will be kept but event requests will not be recreated.

Contacts: Contacts added to the account.

Inbox rules: Rules defined in the account, you need Exchange 2010 or higher.

Contact groups: Contact groups created in the account.

Out of office settings: Rules defined in the out of office assistant.

Tasks: Tasks set up in the account.

Completion

To migrate from POP/IMAP towards Exchange, select "Emails".

You can enter a "third party email" if you want to get notifications about your migration.

Once you've filled in this information, click Start migration.

An error displays if you enter an incorrect login/password combination or server.

The migration will begin once you have created a task.

  • You can track the progress of the migration.

  • Important! Make a note of the task number (task ID) so you can find and track your account migration.

Import a PST file

You have a .pst file which you want to import to your email account. You can do this via the following menu PST Migration.

Click on Start migration

You can then select your PST file via the following menu Browse

Once you have selected your .pst file, you will be prompted to enter the destination account password again before starting the migration.

Once the migration has begun, the migration ID will be displayed, you will be asked for this in order to continue the migration.

Track an ongoing migration

You can track the various stages of your account migration.

To do this, you will need:

  • The task number (task ID) of the current migration (see the previous step)
  • The source email address

Fill in the required fields and click Follow to check the status of a migration.

In the new window, you will see the migration status. You can check which stage the migration is at or if it has completed.

    1. Migration task ID.
    1. Migration creation date.
    1. Last migration update.
    1. Rollback lets you revert the account back to its original state (pre-migration).

Cancel

Cancel: completes the current operations but cancels the following steps.

For example: Your contacts are currently being migrated, if you click "Cancel" your contacts will finish being migrated, however, if you asked for your calendars to be migrated, this will not take place and the migration will end.

Rollback

Rollback lets you revert the account back to its original state (pre-migration). This function is only available up to 48 hours after the migration has finished.
