This guide explains how to use and configure your Exchange solution.

  • Exchange
  • Configuration
  • Email
  • OVH

Step 1: Access the service

Log in to your control panel by clicking on this link: OVH Control Panel

Once logged in, you will see the adjacent interface:

*In our example, this is the Hosted package

In the left-hand column, under "Microsoft" and then "Exchange", select the Hosted solution (in our case hosted-ab12345-1).

Here is a description of the various features available:

  • General information
  • Associated domains
  • Email accounts
  • Groups:
  • External contacts
  • Shared accounts

In the "More+" tab:

  • Resources
  • Footers
  • Recent tasks

If you want to use your email hosting solution with and Exchange, see this guide:

  • If you want to migrate one or more email accounts to Exchange, view this guide:

Step 2: Add a domain

When selecting your Exchange platform, you will see an automatic pop-up so that you can link your domain to your Exchange service.

If your domain is registered with OVH, you can select it from the list.

If the domain is hosted elsewhere or if it is a subdomain, you can enter it manually.

PLEASE NOTE If you do not have a domain, you will first need to order your domain name via the pop-up link.

To configure an external domain (not registered with OVH), the control panel will prompt you to add a CNAME record to a subdomain of your domain.

Click "Next" to go to step 3.

Step 3: Configure the domain

You will be given two options during this stage:

  • With OVH DNS:

Tick "Configure SRV automatically" if the domain is managed on the same OVH ID as your Exchange platform.

The SRV field automatically configures your email client. This is mandatory with Outlook 2016

Tick the option to "Automatically configure MX records". You need this option to get email via your Exchange service. This means that your email servers will be automatically modified.

  • If you do not want to modify your incoming servers: do not tick this option, you can go to the "Associated domains" tabs and click on the MX symbol in red to confirm this change.

  • Without OVH DNS:

you have to manually configurer the SRV record

The SRV is made up of a subdomain:

  • You have to enter the information below:

|Priority|0| |Weight|0| |Port|443|

|Target Hosted offer | or | |The target Private offer| Your host name|

For all orders placed after 26/04/2016, when both Exchange and POP/IMAP mail are hosted outside of OVH, you have to use the MX server: If you have an Exchange solution and a pop/imap email service hosted at OVH (MXplan) you can now use the Exchange antispam MX with non-authoritative mode in order to get antispam for all your email accounts. For incoming servers (MX), you have to manually modify them from your domain's DNS zone:

|Hosted without antispam offer (non authoritative mode)| or| |Offre Hosted without antispam (non authoritative mode)||

|Hosted with antispam offer (authoritative mode)|||||

If you tick automatic MX configuration (necessary for receiving emails) and you have to switch to non authoritative mode (for combatibility with a pop/imap email service) :

  • Click on the red MX (in the "associated domains" section) then choose the incoming server: or

If your pop/imap service is hosted at OVH, you can use antispam mx with non-authoritative mode. It will take between 4 and 24 hours to apply these changes.

Select "Next" then "Confirm" to finish.

Step 4: Configure accounts

Next select the "Email account" tab. Accounts look like the following:

To configure them you have to click on the black pen to the right of the account.

« If you delete one of your email accounts, it will reappear after a few minutes as a new account. You will still be billed for this account. To permanently delete it:

  • Go to the "Billing mode" tab
  • Tick "None" and "Confirm"
